Switching your website
What happens to your rankings, old addresses, domain, email, blog posts and tracking when you move to Rule & Form.
- 01
Will I lose my Google rankings?
Nobody can promise rankings stay the same through a website change. What we can do is protect what Google already knows: every old address keeps working, your blog posts keep their exact addresses, and every new page is built for Google to read.
- 02
What happens to my old web addresses?
Every old address on your site still works after the switch. It either shows a new page at the same address, or sends visitors and Google on to the closest page we have. Once an address forwards, it keeps forwarding.
- 03
What happens to my domain and email?
Your domain stays yours, registered with the company you bought it from. To switch, you change a few settings there, and we show you exactly which ones or do it with you on a call. You leave your email settings alone, so your email keeps working.
- 04
Will my blog posts and legal pages come with me?
Yes. Your blog posts and legal pages, like a privacy policy, keep their exact words and their exact addresses, shown in your new design. Other pages aren’t copied. We build better ones from your business details.
- 05
Does my old website’s information get used?
Yes. We read your old site before your first build and use what it says, like your services, your towns and your story, to fill in anything you haven’t told us yet. We never overwrite something you set.
- 06
What happens to my tracking, forms and booking links?
Your new site has its own contact form that sends every lead straight to you. Your Google tag, Google Ads conversion, Meta Pixel and Google verification move with your site. If your old site runs something we can’t move, we tell you before the switch.
- 07
What happens on switch day?
You add a few settings where your domain is managed. We bring over your blog posts, switch your address, and add the padlock that keeps visits secure. Your old site keeps showing until the switch finishes, which can take up to a day.
- 08
What happens after the switch?
We read your live site back the way a visitor would, to check it’s the version you approved. Then we open it to Google and start the checks that come with your plan. Keep your old website plan for 30 days, in case your domain or email is tied to it.
